No shortcuts allowed on the English Channel!

At 6.30 PM we tried to sail thru one of several windfarms on our way to Amsterdam, but a patrol boat (registered in Panama -  a case of outsourcing of guard duty?) contacted us and in very definite terms told us to change course which we did by 60°. Consequently we had to make a detour costing us some 60-90 minutes

The red dot on the radar screen is Jennifer and all the long yellow lines represent the windfarm forest on our starboard side.

Jennifer Sailor Boys Dreaming...

...about Dutch Meermaids? On our way to Amsterdam the sea is fairly calm for the first time during our long voyage. It is a perfect opportunity for my off duty crewmates to take a nap after enjoying a full buffet breakfast at sea!

Bye bye Dover!

We could safely pass thru the harbour lock and we are now heading out towards the European continent. On our way out we once again saw our friends from Border Force. They were busy cleaning their ship before the next mission.

A final view of The White Cliffs of Dover from the stern of Jennifer - and then bye bye!

Dover Breakfast Service

Yesterday Christian visited the Marina Harbour Master to find out about today's opening hours of the lock. He was informed that the lock will be open from 8.45 AM, +/- 5 minutes. Our goal now is to be ready to sail at that time.

In order to get things moving this morning I served Tore breakfast in bed. It was very much appreciated by him, he has become Jennifer's own barista. After this jumpstart he was happy to assist me by cooking porridge while I prepared a breakfast buffet with cold cuts, boiled egg, cheese and more coffee.

Now we are ready for our next leg to Amsterdam. Estimated sailing time is 30 hours to cover 150 NM.
